Alors que je désespère toujours depuis le Sport Auto de ce début d'année de voir un véritable essai dans la presse francophone (Motorsport, où es-tu !?), voici que nos voisins transalpins de Auto publient ce mois-ci un essai complet de la MP4-12C. Grâce à Mafalda, contributeur italien de German Car Forum, il m'est possible de vous livrer les grandes lignes de cet essai, très positif pour la MP4-12C et à des années-lumière de ce que la presse anglaise a publié il y a un an !
Modèle essayé : 250.000€, Pirelli PZero Corsa, freins acier, echappement sport, jantes superlight...

MP4 Vs 458 (MY10)
Difficile de choisir la meilleure des deux. Performances très proches, mais la MP4 est 0,5sec plus rapide sur circuit et plus facile à conduire à la limite. Toutes deux ont un bon confort, mais la McLaren semble meilleure sur mauvais revêtement. Mais la 458 est plus émotionnelle (... toujours la même chose !!!)...
MP4 VS SLS AMG
Performances? Pas de comparaison possible, mais la SLS est plus belle et plus émotionnelle (encore!!!)

Results just published by Mafalda on German Car Forum. (Very) Good performances and results but I am a little disappointed it did not get closer to Balocco lap time record (2'42"62 for the Porsche Carrera GT) and quite behind the recent lap time of the Lamborghini LP700-4 (2'42"91).
Tested car: Pirelli PZero Corsa / Final price € 250.000 (tested with sport exhaust, a lots of CF optionals, superlights rims... but standard brakes).
Track conditions: Dry, temp: 14°C.

Who is better? It's not easy. Same performances, on track the MP4 is half second faster and less hard to drive at the limit. Good comfort for both, but the MP4 seems a bit better on rough surfaces. But 458 is more emotional...
MP4 VS SLS AMG
Performances? no match, but the SLS is more beautiful and emotional.
MP4 Vs Gallardo LP570SL
MP4 is much more faster and much more comfortable! On track the Gallardo is more amazing to drive, thanks to its engine and setup.

Here is the test summary of Car Mag review:
The immortal F1 was always going to be a hard act for the MP4-12C to follow. The F1 was a seminal supercar and one that is impossible to forget. It casts a dark and very long shadow over the MP4-12C. But that is unfair. The newcomer is vastly cheaper and cmpetes in a very different segment of the market.
By all measurables standards, McLaren has achieved what it set out to accomplish. But supercars are just as much about the immeasurable. And here the MP4-12C does struggle: in terms of the more superficial, subjective measures of looks (pretty, but rather generic) and sound (uninspiring, even with the sports exhaust), it left some team members cold. That said, it's sublime in the way it delivers its performance and, for the capable driver, there are lots of entertainment and satisfaction to be had. Simply put, we haven't tested a finer supercar. It's now up to Ferrari to prove us wrong.
